Welcome to Weekly Update #3 for the Second Quarter 2009 African American Reading Challenge! How’s the reading coming? Are you on track?
Share with us the book you just read as well as the book you plan to read next.
Last week I read Rush Home Road by Lori Lansen. Excellent read and one of my favorites for 2009. If you enjoy historical fiction reads, I definitely recommend you pick up this book. I just finished the Ex-Terminator by Suzetta Perkins. If you’ve never read any of her books, I recommend you pick up her earlier releases as the Ex-Terminator left my very lukewarm and tepid. Just seemed a little rushed, unfocused. Characters weren’t very well developed…too many coincidents…too many loose ends…wasn’t sure of what the plot was supposed to be.
This week I plan to read The Road is Short but Wide by J. California Cooper. Also, on the short reading list are: Par for the Curse by Toyi Ward and Pittershawn Palmer’s New Release.
Now, your turn. Share your list. Tell us what you just read and what you plan to read next.

Last week I read Deadly Charm. This is the third book in the Amanda Bell series. While I really enjoyed the 1st book in series, the 2nd book to me was not as good as the first, but I did really enjoy this 3rd book and thus will continue to read the series.
I did not read a Challenge book this week again. But this is like I was in school — waiting to the last minute to do my assignments.
Currently reading three reviews books – All of which a new authors for me… wonder if any will be a keeper??

Hmmmmm, it’s hard to make a decision. I’ve got some really good books. If I have to take a guess, I think my next book is going to be “A Thirst for Rain” by Roslyn Carrington. I love the title and the cover.

Hi Yasmin,
So far I’m enjoying “A Thirst for Rain.” I like how each character, Sebastian, Odile, Myra, etc. have a personal chapter. There is a lot of drama going on so far especially in Myra’s house. Can’t wait to see what happens. Do you know whether Rosalyn Carrington has written any more books?
Tea´s last blog post..The Fairy’s Return by Gail Carson Levine
