QUEEN PIN by Jemeker Thompson-Hairston & David Ritz is a true story of a woman who ran one of the most profitable drug cartels during the ’80s and ’90s. This book is in essence her confessions of past deeds done wrong.

During the `80s and `90s, Jemeker Thompson started off selling weed as a means of fast money. Later she graduated to one of the most lucrative drugs, cocaine. Jemeker had her boyfriend (at the time), later her husband, Daff, as the front man. Jemeker was the woman behind the scenes running everything. With the money rolling in, Daff and Jemeker made sure they gave back to not only their family but the community as well. With more money, came more problems. When a murder occurs too close to home, it leaves Jemeker more on the front line; doing the only thing she knows to survive. Later, she is on the run from the feds, having to stay away from her only child and family. Eventually she is caught and has to do 12 years in prison and the only way she is able to survive is by the grace of God.

QUEEN PIN by Jemeker Thompson-Hairston & David Ritz is a memoir of one woman that was considered a queen pin. Although Jemeker’s story was interesting to say the least, I would have really liked to see more detail, instead of just the facts written. The story read more like an outline of events that happened in her life. All-in-all this was an alright read.
