927662_water_lillySome people have activities that they hold sacred.

A cup of tea in the stillness of the morning before the rest of the household is awake.

A monthly pampering session at the spa.

Strolling through the bookstore on a lazy Sunday morning before all the church folk arrive.

These activities rejuvenate and revive us. They are not luxuries; they are necessities.  And yet, they are often the first things that get cast aside when schedules get hectic or crazy.

I’ve been terribly remiss in my self-care lately.  I’ve got lots of excuses for it, but it simply boils down to the fact that I always put myself last.

I’m in need of some fresh ideas.

I’m getting back on the wagon.  Hit me up with your sacred moments.  What do you do to take care of yourself that you won’t back burner for anyone else?

  1. I love cruising the bookstore during the week. No one is in there midday. No lines if I choose to buy something. I also try not to miss my local book club meeting even if I didn’t read the book. It’s the only time I get to be just me.No wife duties or mommy duties. Simpl Jennifer. Lastly, I will not miss getting my locks tightened for anyone.my hair is me. It represents how I think and act. Free!

  2. Sacred Moments…Twice a month hair, nail, pedicure appts. Time spent reading. Finally getting to the point where no matter what food is in the house…I will only eat that which is good for me…and once I’m feeling better and the doctor gives me permission to resume normal/regular activities…I’m going to get a personal trainer. Not only should my hair, nail and toes looks good…but I need to work on making sure I have the body to match it. ;)

  3. I like tea parties and if I can’t get to one, I have my own replete with china and something sweet. I get my nails and pedicure done on a regular basis.

  4. the mornings that i am sane enough to remember to say good morning GOD instead of saying oh god its morning then spending a little time giving thanks for all of the blessings i refuse to see

  5. Wednesday I got to go to the salon. I haven’t been in ages. I’m usually all braided up. I got my hair cut, colored and styled and loved it. I have missed having someone massage my scalp and the girl talk was awesome. We talked about GOD, church, cleanliness, books, children, spouses and TV shows. I have been putting off the pampering me, but after Wednesday, I’ve decided that I’m going to make this a weekly event. Including mani and pedi. — I also enjoy mornings where I wake up before the entire house and I get to watch as the world comes alive. Birds chirping, sun peeking and the stillness. I love those moments.
