Scratches by Frankie Nicole is the story of Charlie Carrington. She helps everyone around her with their problems, while having many problems of her own. With each friend that presents their problems, it is revealed that Charlie is dealing with something in her own life. Charlie faces telling her best friend that her boyfriend made sexual advances towards her. She has another friend that is trying to get over losing the love of her life, a friend that is dealing with her abusive past, and a friend that struggles with failure of what he thought was supposed to be his career.

SCRATCHES left me confused. It was supposed to be little episodes that just gave snippets into the situation, but they were not detailed enough. I believe the author spent more time on the characters’ storytelling versus giving background or more explanation of what was going on. The characters were not well developed. The narrator seemed to switch at times and I was left not knowing who was speaking. I believe the author should take one of the episodes and cultivate it into it’s own story, it may be more enjoyable and easier to follow.
