Sex, Lies and Secret Lives lives up to the title, particularly when it comes to sex. Jillian and Justine are twin sisters and they could not be more different. Having grown up in an abusive home and later in foster care, the sisters have vowed to stay close as adults. Jillian has a secret life as an extremely high-paid, sexual escort and Justine does not know any of the details of her sister’s life. Justine toils away as a researcher and thinks her sister is a highly-paid model. However, the sisters have a pact that if ever anything happened to Jillian, she would send a text message and Justine is to find out what happened to her. When the text message arrives, Justine goes in search of her sister and discovers more than she could have ever imagined.
The novel is drenched in sex scenes, which is appropriate for a book about a sexual escort, however, the pages and pages of sex took away from what could have been quite a mystery. Meek, bookish, Justine immediately assumes the persona of her sister and is caught up in Jillian’s world. In fact,it seems that Justine becomes Jillian too easily. The reader is taken on the hunt for Jillian while seeing Justine transform herself into her sister.
I recommend the novel to those who love erotica with a strong sexual emphasis.
