It’ All About Love over here at APOOO, so today my post is about favorite fiction couples.
OK, my post is actually a list of my favorite fiction couples.
‘Cause we read over here.
And sometimes these characters become real to me.
I laugh at the fighting. I cheer them on as they start to figure things out. I cry when one of them dies or is hurt. And I am constantly reminded of how good love can really be.
Today I pay homage to the many couples who have shown what love is.
So here’s my list (in no particular order):
- Carlos and Damali- the Vampire Huntress series by LA Banks.
- Franklin and Zora- Disappearing Acts by Terri McMillan
- Basil and Raymond- Just As I Am by E. Lynn Harris
- Shelby and Meade- The Wedding by Dorothy West
- Janie and Tea Cake- Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
- Henry and Lena- The Hand I Fan With by Tina McElroy Ansa
- Dawit and Jessica- My Soul To Keep by Tananarive Due
- Ava and Eddie- What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day by Pearl Cleage
- John and Connie- One Day I Saw A Black King by JD Mason
- George and Cocoa- Mama Day by Gloria Naylor
Crap- now it looks like I’ve got some re-reading to do.
There are SOOOOO many more- but I’m going to need a little help. Name your favorite fiction couple. I can’t wait to see what y’all come up with.

Great lists. I can’t think of any right now but I agree with most of the names you posted
I would add Kate and Dixon Wildhorse from Topez by Beverly Jenkins
LaShonda,& Djuanna I have to agree with you
also added:
Galen and Hester – Indigo by Beverly Jenkins
Quest and Michaela Ramsey – A Lover’s Dream by Altonya Washington
Mykal and Sarita Chandler- Edge of Midnight by Bev Jenkins
Boss and Mo – Torn by Keisha Irvin
Martin and Ceylon Deveraux- My One and Only love-by Melanie Schuster.
Ooh, you and others have named most of my favorite fiction couples. I would have to say all the heroines and heroes from Beverly Jenkins’ historical which have been noted and the couples from Rochelle Alers’ Hideaway series. My favorite is Serena Morris-Vega and David Cole from Heaven Sent. I have to second Blue and Regina from Cleage’s books.
I can’t forget the ill-fated couple of James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk, Trish and Fonny; there story moves me to tears. Which reminds me of Natasha and Antonio in Upstate by Kalisha Buckhanon. I know I will think of others later.
Dera Williams´s last blog post..Black History Month… But I’d Rather We Got Casinos
Dera feeling you on Natasha and Antonio from Upstate…absolutely heartbreaking couple.
Oh yeah and the couple from a Love Noire and Hunger…Noire and Innocent.
I totally agree with your picks Djuanna for #’s 2 & 7.
