98308_lovers_shadows_in_cobb_familIt’ All About Love over here at APOOO, so today my post is about favorite fiction couples.

OK, my post is actually a list of my favorite fiction couples.

‘Cause we read over here.

And sometimes these characters become real to me.

I laugh at the fighting.  I cheer them on as they start to figure things out.  I cry when one of them dies or is hurt.  And I am constantly reminded of how good love can really be.

Today I pay homage to the many couples who have shown what love is.

So here’s my list (in no particular order):

  1. Carlos and Damali- the Vampire Huntress series by LA Banks.
  2. Franklin and Zora- Disappearing Acts by Terri McMillan
  3. Basil and Raymond- Just As I Am by E. Lynn Harris
  4. Shelby and Meade- The Wedding by Dorothy West
  5. Janie and Tea Cake- Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
  6. Henry and Lena- The Hand I Fan With by Tina McElroy Ansa
  7. Dawit and Jessica- My Soul To Keep by Tananarive Due
  8. Ava and Eddie- What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day by Pearl Cleage
  9. John and Connie- One Day I Saw A Black King by JD Mason
  10. George and Cocoa- Mama Day by Gloria Naylor

Crap- now it looks like I’ve got some re-reading to do.

There are SOOOOO many more- but I’m going to need a little help.  Name your favorite fiction couple.  I can’t wait to see what y’all come up with.

  8. Ooh, you and others have named most of my favorite fiction couples. I would have to say all the heroines and heroes from Beverly Jenkins’ historical which have been noted and the couples from Rochelle Alers’ Hideaway series. My favorite is Serena Morris-Vega and David Cole from Heaven Sent. I have to second Blue and Regina from Cleage’s books.

I can’t forget the ill-fated couple of James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk, Trish and Fonny; there story moves me to tears. Which reminds me of Natasha and Antonio in Upstate by Kalisha Buckhanon. I know I will think of others later.
