R. Y. Swint introduces readers to Sebrina Cooper, a single woman with an Army career and a yearning to be loved. She takes pride in always doing what is right and playing it safe, but with her 30th birthday coming around she feels it is time to let loose. One day, Sebrina runs into her ex-boyfriend, Curtis, not realizing that a simple encounter will change both of their lives.
A U.S. Marine Corps recruiter, Curtis had moved on with his life since his break up with Sebrina, so when he runs into her again at the Military Entrance Processing Station he is overwhelmed with her beauty. Curtis sees an opportunity to have her back in his life, but he has one problem, his fiancé. Will the two ex-lovers pick up where they left off?
Sebrina decides to treat herself on her birthday to a trip to the mall. She is greeted at the MAC counter by Andra-Lyn, a makeup artist, who transforms her into a star. The two become friends, hanging out and sharing sad stories. However, one of these friends has not been very truthful and her secret, if revealed, will destroy their friendship.
The Other Side of 30, told from the viewpoint of the other woman, is the story of a woman going through a rollercoaster of unstable emotions. The author creates a world of judgment, hurt, and anger, which will make readers want to hurt the main character, Sebrina, before the end of the book. After reading The Other Side of 30, I have a clear understanding of the phrase “She is a desperate woman.” In addition, even though the book started slow it turned out to be an overall good book. I recommend this book to others.

Thanks, everyone!
I was able to read my childhood friend’s book before it was published and this is what I wrote to her immediately afterwards: “I finished your book today. I started reading in edit mode but by pg 20 I was so engrossed that I became unaware of anything more than reading furiously & hungrily. It is very rare that I find myself sorely tempted to prematurely read the end of the book, dying to know the end. But I refrained! I hated for it to end, and I so hope you are already working on its sequel!!”
My friend’s book may be a work of fiction, but it is so very real. Fair warning, once you pick it up you will not want to put it down until you’ve finished it. Enjoy!!
I am Shams “Sherry’s” step daughter. She turned me on to your book and now I cant turn away. I am in Chapter 12 after reading it for 2 days and I just can’t put it down until my eyes start to bleed.
I have caught myself crying, laughing, and praising you out loud for straight up reading my mind. Its an amazing book I can not wait to finish it.
You go girl, CONGRATS!!!!
PS I hope your writing more, and Im going to spread this book like wild fire!
Thank you, Brittany! I’m glad you’re enjoying the book. Please continue to share with others.
