Heading: Love Comes in Different Ways
Everyone deserves to be loved. In Can a Sistah Get Some Love? by Nathasha Brooks-Harris, Gail McFarland, Zana Kayne, and Tinisha Nicole Johnson, each story represents a different scenario of the difficulties a person/couple could go through in order to find the love of their life. In “For Love or Success” by Tinisha Nicole Johnson, Jasmine Carter is a career-driven professional and successful woman. When Kevin Matthews literally pulls into her world, at first glance Jasmine could not see herself with a blue-collar worker. As faith would have it, Jasmine and Kevin cross paths again and decide to extend the hand of friendship but do not see their relationship going any further. As time goes by feelings start to change. Will Kevin and Jasmine give in to their feelings or is their relationship already perfect?
In “Arctic Love” by Natasha Brooks-Harris, Ava Wellbourne relocates from Brooklyn, NY to Alaska, after securing a teaching position. Ava had turned her heart off from finding love because of her trust issues. However, when Zachary Blackmon engages her in conversation an invisible bond begins to grow. Try as she may to stay away from his heart, Ava is pulled in more when an unexpected accident happens. Will Zachary and Ava get a chance to express their true feelings?
Kayla Powell was a successful corporate executive. All that could go wrong in one day happens to her and her life changes drastically. In “A Taste for Love” by Zana Kayne, Kayla finds herself moving back home to collect her inheritance from her aunt while picking up the pieces of her life. Never did she realize going back where she came from would bring her face-to-face with Clay Weston. Clay is a detective who sees a damsel in distress and comes to her aid. Will Clay have the guts to cross the line between doing his job and falling for the damsel?
In “The Twentieth Century Fox” by Gail McFarland, Margie Wilson is a business owner, a seasoned, mature woman, whose husband has become blind to her love and kindness. Margie does everything she can to appease him, but when he picks up and leaves her, Margie does not sulk. She picks herself up and dusts off the ungrateful feelings and tries to move on. Her good friends give her more advice than she asks for, and Margie finds herself going with the flow. They convince her to enter a contest for a free gym membership, but she wins more than she expects.
I enjoyed all these stories. Some moved a little slow in the beginning but turned out to be an enjoyable read. I have gone back and forth with trying to pick out my favorite and there was a tie between “A Taste of Love” and “The Twentieth Century Fox.” My reason is because both stories dealt with women out of their 30s finding true love. I also appreciated the bedroom scenes, where it was done tastefully without raunchy language. I recommend Can a Sistah Get Some Love? to romance readers.
