APOOO Tales–I just found out that APOOO’s Book-of-the-month (BOM) for the month of October will be featured at Starbuck stores nationwide during the month of September.  The name of the book is The House at Sugar Beach by Helena Cooper, and it is the author’s memoir about her childhood in Liberia during the country’s civil war. What a great feat to be picked up by Starbuck’s as there BOM!

APOOO Tunes–Okay how come I can’t get this tune out of my head…’why must I feel like that why must I chase the cat’…”bow wow wow yippie yo yippie yay”…lol.  My daughter asked me about this song earlier this week and days later it’s still in my head…lol.  Back in the day…this was one of the jams…as soon as it came on I was on the dance floor…doing to dog of course…oh and if I was at a Que set without fail they would play this song and we would strut our stuff via the Soul Train line…anyone old enough to remember those days…hehe. All I know is if this song would have come out while I was in college somebody might have gotten hurt…lol.

ATOMIC DOG by George Clinton by and Parliament (1982)

Okay when I snagged Atomic Dog why did I see Flash Light(1977) (ooo neon light…stop light) and One Nation Under a Groove (1978)…well I grabbed those also.  Ya’ll I’m ready to by-pass Tunes and Tales and go straight to a good ole House Party…lol.

  1. Soulful Strut (of course) by Young Holt Unlimited; All Day Music – War, anything by Hector Lavoe and the Fania All-Stars and Light My Fire by Jose Feliciano, Beautiful Morning by The Rascals

  2. During my college years anything by MC Hammer or Rob Base. “Push It’ by Salt N Pepa and “Supersonic” by JJ Fad were played a lot. I don’t know the group but another song was “Egyptian Lover.”

Shelia did you know that Salt has a memoir coming out?

  4. Yasmin, I didn’t know. I will have to make note of it so I can get her memoir when it comes out.
