StrongholdsPastor George Landris stands before his congregation with a very important request. He asks everyone to remove their masks and place their strongholds or weaknesses at the alter. For many, their strongholds could not be relieved with just prayer. It was going to
take work, desire and faith. Pastor Landris was surprised at the response to his request.

Vanessa Davis Griggs, in Strongholds, introduces readers to the members of Pastor Landris’ congregation, at the newly formed Followers of Jesus Faith Worship Center, who are struggling with weaknesses, such as addictions, selfishness, adultery, workaholic, mental illness and obsessions. Each member comes forward to tell his/her story and how their weakness has affected their lives. However, Pastor Landris finds himself in the middle of a storm as the members request to meet with him personally. With so many requests, Pastor Landris puts together a team of counselors to assist him with meeting with everyone. He was not prepared for all that was being revealed.

Griggs has once again put together a very inspirational and moving story of faith. As with all of her novels, Griggs references biblical scriptures as each character talks about their strongholds and their struggles to break free. As the reader, I was able to identify with the weaknesses and struggles of each character. You will laugh, cry and shout as you experience each character’s struggle. Griggs raised a lot of questions that are debatable and she raised the eyebrows of those that lack faith. The story ended with a very moving sermon from Pastor Landris that will encourage readers to anticipate the final segment to this trilogy.
