Stylicia A. Bowden does a wonderful job uplifting and showing appreciation for men in her wonderful book of poetry, All About Him: The Experience. She takes her experience with the men in her life, good and bad and shares how one can move on from the bad relationships and celebrate the positive things in love with the new.
Instead of embracing and focusing on all the negative that men are portrayed to do, she shows how beautiful love between a man and woman can be when the woman lifts him up, shows and tells him how loved and appreciated he is that it is okay for the “independent” woman to give her all, to share her appreciation of her man. That by doing that the man is able to love freely and the woman is able to relish and appreciate that love even after all of the crazy relationships in life.
“In the end let him know you need him and show him what he is worth.” I love this line from the piece titled, “Interdependent.” This sums up the whole book of poetry in this read–BALANCE. Positivity weighing out the negativity, letting the man be the man and the woman be the woman. Love elevated to the highest level of Creation. I definitely give this read two thumbs up and highly recommend it to men and women alike–to inspire and celebrate expressing love.
