First, There was BLACK FRIDAY
(How to Spend Money We Don’t Have 101)

Then there was CYBER MONDAY
(How to Spend More Money We Don’t Have 201)

Followed by a Very Sobering BLACK WEDNESDAY
(Now That I Don’t Have a Job, I Wonder If I Can Return Some of the Stuff I Just Bought…Sigh)
On Wednesday alone, Simon & Schuster eliminated 35 jobs, Thomas Nelson cut 54, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt laid off several senior editors and reportedly confirmed plans for further downsizing, and Random House announced a big reorganization that has everyone in the industry wondering what’s what — and who’s out. GET READY FOR THE APOOO TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS LITERARY TOUR AND BOOK GIVEAWAYS
(APOOO Says…It is Better To Give To Others Than To Receive)
APOOO is here to bring a smile to your face and to add a little holiday cheer to the equation. In honor of the holiday season, APOOO will host the Twelve Days of Christmas Literary Tour and give away books, books, books, and a few gift certificates along the way. It’s our way of supporting African American authors, promoting African American books (or books with African American characters) and rewarding the APOOO visitors during this holiday season. While there is much gloom and doom in the news, sometimes it’s nice to step away from the madness, and what better way to escape than with a book.

What a great promo! Yes, times they are hard and will get harder. If there is ever a time to tighten the belt, now is the time. However, if you go the mall, you wouldn’t know there is a “recession.” Frankly, most of the sales are not on hit yet.
Dera´s last blog post..My name is Dera and I am a bookaholic
I love the muppets….I was in the mall Sunday(to run away from my family for a few) and I have to say it was not as crowded as I remember. The line for Santa was not out of control as it has been in the past. There were so many sales associates and not many shoppers in the stores like Victoria Secrets and Bath and Body Works. I was in the shoe store watching part of the Dallas game with the sales clerk, until he realized I was for Dallas and kicked me out….
People do NOT have jobs, 401′s are down, earnings from retiree accounts are way down. To me it is no longer a recession, I lived fhrough a recession, this is much deeper. We poor are getting really poorer.
I love the muppets and the Christmas song. Yes, it’s terrible out here, people are not buying as they use to, but people are losing their homes and jobs and that’s more important than out trying to buy at stores right now. The sales are really not sales to me, I haven’t seen anything anyway to lure me in and really buy something. But books will always lure me in anytime.
