In this new installment, Sweeter Than The Honey, author LaShanda Michelle introduces readers to Kamilah Wright, the dependable sister, daughter, and friend. Kamilah has no excitement in her life because she is to busy taking care of her seven brothers and sisters. She does enjoy hanging with her best friend, Eric. He is the only one Kamilah has disclosed her rape to, but the one thing she has not told Eric is that she has a crush on him. Her feelings continue to grow for her best friend until the new girl arrives.
Summer Freeman is a new student at Kamilah’s school and an aspiring fashion designer. Her beauty brings all the fellows to her beck and call, including Eric. He tries his best to win Summer over, but the feelings are not mutual. Summer and Kamilah meet and soon become friends. Summer starts spending a lot of time to help Kamilah in various ways and soon starts showing Kamilah other avenues for entertainment.
Kamilah is introduced to a world she did not know existed. The more time she spends with Summer the more her feelings grow and she realizes that these feelings may be wrong. Unbeknownst to Summer and Kamilah, Eric catches them doing something out of the ordinary; he confronts his best friend only to receive a response he did not want. Will Kamilah’s actions destroy their friendship?
Sweeter Than The Honey is a story of discovering new things. It is a story of new friendships, relationships, and learning how to live again. The main character breaks out of her shell for the first time and realizes all that she had been missing. She becomes a different person but for the wrong reasons. The book started off slow but picked up toward the middle when emotions started running wild and individuals’ feelings started getting hurt. I took from this book that sometimes your friends can be your worst enemies. I recommend this book to others.
