While summer has some baggage, for me it’s very small compared to all of the pluses, which make me want to hold on to summer for as long as I can and impossible for me to let go easily. For many of us summer ends when the kids head back to school…and/or Labor Day is upon us…I am still not ready to put away my summer clothes, my LIGHT COLORED SHOES…heck not even my sandals…lol.

Recently, Victoria Olsteen quickly learned that ‘laying of hands’ does not always receive a favorable response. Most folks of color know that you don’t ‘lay your hands’ on a sistah in a confrontational manner if you don’t want a beatdown. Or in this sistah’s case (Olsteen altercation) to be sued for your action.

In keeping with APOOO’s August theme of HOT FUN IN THE SUMMERTIME, today I will spotlight 13 of my favorite childhood movies. During the summer, especially during my middle school/junior high years, neighborhood friends and I would trek to the neighborhood theatre every Tuesday (even in the rain) to see the weekly matinee.

Who’s watching the 2008 Summer Olympics? Opening ceremony is this evening and the family and I will be there front and center along with a few of our friends. Oh yeah, it’s a house party for us…lol. I’ve been into the Olympics for the last 30some years –the summer Olympics that is. Once i realized what the summer Olympics were, I loved watching them. While there are many memorable moments, most of them, like the ones listed below I couldn’t identify with because I wasn’t born when they occured.

Growing up I loved school and always looked forward to the first day of school but as the year rolled on…I also couldn’t wait for the first day of summer. My childhood was wonderful and my summers were great.
