ok...so I have experienced this on so many levels. My oldest is a college freshman...the things this child needed for school. her room was like a mini apartment. complete with flat screen from her grandpa. I did not get to use a calculator is pre calc...but my daughter HAD to purchase a specific $100.00 calculator for her class. Microwave, laptop, frig...did I mention the room is laid out..She is oldest the oldest grandbaby on both sides and since she got a full ride scholarship with books paid for, we all felt she deserved what she wanted.....thank God for the scholarship...her book total was over $900.00 she is a biology major.

My son is ten...his list includes...hand sanitizer, post it notes, specific colored 3prong/2pocket binders, stretch book covers(I remember my parents saving the paper grocery store bags to cover my books...I graduated HS in 1991...it was not THAT long ago, but alot has changed.)

My youngest is 3 and I cringe to think what she will need.

I had a word processor in college, but not a computer (had to go to the campus computer lab) and a laptop was non-existent. We had calculators, but we could not use them in class, much less for standardized tests!! I was excited when I got my first Sony Walkman (cassette, not CD). Also, no flat screen tvs.

The reality hit me when Rebecca was in high school and she had to have not just any calculator but one specific to calculus. Back in the mid-90s those suckers cost big time.

Hi! Happy Thursday to you!!

Oh golly, if you'd like to list things that wasn't around when we were in school, I could probably go back as far as paper! [I'm that old!] We used goatskin. [kidding!!!]

Great idea for a list.
