1- When your looking for dating material does it matter if he has a child?
2- Teenage pregnancy is prevalent in our community, do you think it has anything to do with our daughters not being allowed to play with dolls as long as they want?
3- How accepting would you be if the man you were dating brought a house and moved in his daughter and the daughter mama?
4- This was asked in a review written by aNN from the RAWreviewers, are True Lies the same as half truth and white lies?
Dawn
1. Do think that Rick would have left/put Gina out if he had not met Dajah or someone else? Do you believe that Rick needed to have someone/anyone in his life so he put up with Gina until someone else came along?
2. Do you think it was realstic for Rick to accept Gina’s ways, i.e., staying out overnight, not working, drinking, getting high?
3. Do you believe that Rick’s sister and brother should have had more of a role in the storyline?
The discussion guide in the book
1. At the start of the book, it’s been a year since Dajah broke things off with David and Dajah has come to regret it. Do you think she should have worked through her growing disinterest with him and stayed, or did she do the right thing when she called thinks off?
2. Despite warnings from friends and family, Rick got together with Gina even though he was eight years older and in a different mindset. Despite the problems taht arose as a result, do you think being with Gina helped him or hurt him in the long run?
3. If Rick hadn’t met Dajah, do you think he would have left Gina or would he have gone on being in that bad relationship? Why?
4. Gina gave Rick more grief than joy. Do you think she really loved him, or if she even knew what love really was?
5. Dajah became involved with Rick even though she ‘didn’t do share’ (share a man with anyone). what do you think motivated her to do so, breaking a lifelong rule? Do you think she would ever do it again, if so, why?
6. Rick’s plan to get a two-family house was faulty to anyone outside of his situation. Do you believe he really thought it could work, or was he just delusional? Why do you think he came up with that plan at all?
7. Gina’s mother was extremely hard on her. Do you think her mother’s actions were justified? If so, why?
8. Frieda was literally working herself into an early grave. Why do you think she refused to do something about it for as long she did?
9. What do you think became a turning point for Tarika? What do you think motivated her to do something about her life? If it were ten years from the end of the book, what would she be doing? Would she and Gina still be friends?
10. When the second floor apartment remains un-rented, Rick tells Dajah he has someone who wants to rent it in January. Do you think he really planned to rent out the apartment?
11. Whom do you think Rick loved more–Dajah or Gina? Why?
12. It is now two years since the end of the story. What do you think has become of Dajah, Rick and Gina?
