Getting to know Francine Craft…
If you could pass on one tidbit of knowledge to both your fans and aspiring writers, what would it be?
Learn to believe in yourself. Have faith and trust in your vision and put no else’s vision above yours. Fortunately, we live in an age when we can self-publish and that makes a huge difference. And never give up on your dreams and your goals. Never, never underestimate your readers. Most can “get” anything you care to write about. Prepare well and be the best you can be. And I pray before I write. Believe me, it helps.
What authors influence your work?
Daphne du Maurier and Mary Stewart, both writer of romance in a distant time. Presently I like Danielle Steel for romance, love Maureen Smith and consider her one of the best writers writing. Her name is eluding me at the moment, but she also writes as Meesha Mink, all the bestselling writers who obviously take joy in what they do. There’re just so many out there these days.
How do you choose the titles for your novels?
I look within the novel and the novel idea always for the title.

Sounds like an interesting story…and it reminds me of some of the talk of voodoo i heard growing up in the low country.
LaShonda, thank you. It is an interesting story you might like because it gives you some of the background of voodoo which is a religion to millions of people and is worthy of respect. The hoopla surrounding it is ill-intentioned. I had a distant cousin, a preacher and hoodoo man who was nothing liked the smart and caring houngans and the mambos so much a part of voodoo. However, voodoo is just a partial background for what is a fascinating story to me and many others. if you buy or borrow, please let me know what you think.
I am looking forward to reading this – voodoo romance sounds really wonderful
VOODOO? ROMANCE? Aw….Me loves the sounds of that. I want to check it out. Great info. Thanks for sharing

‘Cilla, I’m answering in order an yours is first. I heard from you on another venue and I very much appreciate this. I believe you’ll like this. So many have liked it. You read a lot and if price is a problem, there’ll be good second hand copies later. Try it and do let me know if you do or don’t like it and why. Thanks again.

Thanks Shaye Shaye, I found it interesting that voodoo is a religion for millions and it’s fascinating. The origin is brilliant and done by slaves. I absolute loved writing Edge and many, many people have told me they loved it. some say it’s gritty; I say it’s slices of orange and lemon life:) And I hope you do read it and tell me what you do and don’t like about it.

Thanks Linda for welcoming me to APOOO. I’ll be more active here in the future. And many thanks for wanting to pick up Edge. I believe you’ll like it; so many others have. It goes deep into a side of voodoo you won’t read about anywhere else, its origin from the brilliant minds of slaves.

Jennifer, sorry I put Linda’s name before yours here, but Aol was molasses and I had to go out and come back in. The titlef of the words for aspiring authors sounds fascinating – wish you’d put an address with this. We all like to know people are listening and so it warms my heart that you’ve been to other blogs, but if this had been your first, I’d still be grateful. If you pick up Edge, please tell me what you do and don’t like about it.

Dera, thanks for reading my books and telling me you enjoyed them, and I certainly appreciate your words of encouragement. I sincerely believe you’ll like and enjoy Edge. It tells you things about voodoo as a religion that most people aren’t aware of and it’s a fight against evil in all its forms. If you like mysteries, I think you’ll like this one. I hope you do find it thrilling and I hope I remembered to tell everyone to tell me what you do and don’t like about Edge.
