Pastor James Maxwell understands firsthand what it is to lose his family due to his own personal actions, and he also knows how important it is to find himself complete in the God he serves. In Author Bernard Boulton’s, Do You Wanna Be Made Whole, Pastor Maxwell shares the lessons God taught him because of past mistakes.

Under the pastoral tutelage of Pastor Maxwell, three young men grew from childhood to manhood together and found direction in life in different ways. However, Michael, Adam and Theo would find their way back to the ministry and teaching of the man who was instrumental in providing the male role model they all needed and the guidance to become the men that God had called them to be.

Michael suffered a tragedy that he never took the time to come to grips with, and hid a secret that threatened to overtake his life; Adam’s womanizing ways cost him a job he loved and Theo struggled with his wife’s infidelity and could not find it in his heart to forgive her and work on repairing their marriage. These three young men who grew up together would learn how valuable their longtime friendship would be at such a crucial time in each of their lives with the help of Pastor Maxwell.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Maxwell’s ministry consisted of helping men from all walks of life through a program he started at his church to help them identify the root of their problem and work on allowing God’s deliverance to take place in their lives. He fasted, prayed and counseled these men, and through learning from his own past mistakes, Pastor Maxwell was instrumental in helping many men overcome the obstacles in their lives that kept them from becoming the men that God called them to be.

I really enjoyed reading Do You Wanna Be Made Whole because it ministers to men from all walks of life, especially to those of the household of faith who have not identified certain areas of their lives that hold them back from walking in the way the Lord would have them to walk. We rarely hear about anything for the men in our churches and communities, and I found the read to be so refreshing and encouraging. I recommend this book to pastors and those who minister to men.
